Little Italy is the newest Italian restaurant in Hudson, WI and my sister, Andrea, is the Operations Manager there. I’m putting that first to be fully transparent, but if anyone knows our family, they would also know if we don’t agree with something or think it sucks we’re the first to tell one another haha, so I assure you that I am only posting this because the food is legitimately really good and I was not asked to.
It actually even worked out perfectly so I was able to go to dinner while Andrea was working and with our other sister, Ashley! There’s nothing better than stolen sister time!
Our adventure to Bass Lake Cheese Factory started with my brother-in-law innocently breaking out their cheese and ended with my sister insisting we go there to get a Silly Dilly Grilled Cheese since I had never been and they now have a bar! It WAS her birthday party so who am I to fight with her about going to a cheese factory and eating cheese curds?!
Nothing says “Happy Birthday” like tacos! I was excited to go out for impromptu dinner with my parents for my mom’s birthday in Hudson. I was even more excited when my mom picked Azul Tequila Bar and Grill, because I live for queso dip.
For YEARS I have wanted to do a corn maze. It was a dream come true when boyfriend said he wanted to do a fall date day and that I could pick the activity! Knowing his love for puzzles, the Have Ya Herd Corn Maze was the perfect marriage of goats and an outdoor activity that I love AND the problem solving and puzzles that he loves…sometimes I know how to compromise 😉 .
Fall has so many activities; apple picking, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes! White Pine Berry Farms Fall Family Days are the perfect family fall activity. They have a bouncy house, animals to feed and pet, a free hay ride, pumpkins, raspberry picking AND a corn maze!
Unfortunately, when I went with my sister and her family it was opening weekend we weren’t able to check out the corn maze, because it was way too muddy, but we did get to check out all the other fun fall activities! Literally the best part about fall is that no one bats an eye when I ask to tag along to their family activities haha. Continue reading
I get it. Hudson is a little far out there, but trust me on this one!
Full Disclosure: I’ve spent more time eating (and “drinking wisconsinbly”) at Agave Kitchen than any other restaurant in the Twin Cities. Yes, the food is good, but the real reason for me is because I love being able to go there to spend time with my sister who is Agave Kitchen’s General Manager. A few times a week you can also find Andrea behind the bar slinging mojitos and screaming “SEE YOU TOMORROW” at guests who are leaving haha… So yeah, full disclosure: I know many of the people who work there because they are my sister’s 2nd family, but I am not getting any kick backs for writing this Hipster Hack (not saying I didn’t try, just saying it didn’t happen…hahaha just kidding).
My sister has been working at Agave for somewhere around 9(?) years so it’s safe to say I’ve tried a LOT of their food. Originally I used to go there when I was in my mid 20s as a loophole, because if your sister is the bartender you’re not eating and drinking alone, right? RIGHT?! However, their keto menu is the star of this Hipster Hack.
It has been a strugglefest to find places to go out to eat that are actually affordable (aka not a steak house) and have keto food options other than a bunless burger and a side salad. Agave Kitchen has a whole keto friendly subset to their menu AND they have keto monthly features like the lobster mac & cheese you’ll see below (made with cauliflower rice). If you’re keto, this definitely makes it worth the 30 minute drive for a date night!
