My excitement about the opening of Puttery Minneapolis rocketed when I learned it was a 21+ venue. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE playing mini-golf with my niece and nephews, but it would be a lie to say that I love being surrounded by kids on a date activity 😬 and I love that as adults we’re reclaiming some of the fun we had as kids like mini-golf and arcade games!
Mini Golf:
There are three courses available; the conservatory, library and art museum. We purchased the two course package so we played the library and art museum courses.
Things I loved:
✅ The venue is stunning
✅ Each course is aptly themed to correspond to the title and it’s fun to find little easter eggs in the decor
✅ They offer specialty themed cocktails that are only available while you’re on the corresponding course
✅ The scorekeeping is virtual so you don’t have to do the “where do I put the scorecard while I putt” juggle (bonus that I don’t have to do my own math haha)
✅ We had four servers (you’ll understand after reading the section below) and each one was very friendly and helpful
✅ The pizza is realllllly good (detailed below)
Things they could improve:
❌ The courses are visually great, but there’s not much to the actual holes and each course is only 9 holes. If we hadn’t been behind a large group of 8, we would have been in and out probably within 10 minutes (leading to the next point)
❌ It’s not cheap. We did the 2 course package for 2 people which was just under $60 ($30/person). The drinks are also expensive. I’d go as far to say they are ballpark prices 😂. Our first tab of 2 tap beers was $16 and when we got to the course and started ordering the speciality cocktails, each one of those was around $15…woof. We were also informed that a service charge was added and of course we then tipped, so each course tab, all said and done, was closer to $70. Again, woof.
❌ Building off the previous point, you have separate tabs everywhere. We had one at the bar waiting for our tee time, a tab at each course, and then a fourth tab when we got food afterwards. It made sense, because they likely want to make sure each server is compensated with tips correctly, but as a patron, it got clunky and if you have a more stringent bank that many transactions could be an issue.
❌ Lastly, there wasn’t a purse hook in the unisex bathroom so I was stuck setting my purse on the floor 🤮 (easy fix on their part)

Drinks:

The Library Cocktails: Colossus of New York (Rye, Vermouth, Cynar, Bitters) & August Sunset (Vodka, Aperol, Lemon cordial)
They do have a standard drink menu across the whole venue, but as I mentioned above while you’re putting on each course they have a themed cocktail menu that corresponds with the course. You access this menu through QR codes posted at each hole. I’m unsure how long this will be accurate, but here I’ll linked the Library cocktail menu that they used for us.
On each course there is a floating server taking your orders and each hole has a drink holder, which is key!

Art Museum Cocktails: Puttery Old Fashioned (Rye Whiskey, Bitters, Orange Oils) & Rumble (Rum, Blackberries, Lemon)
I was in love with the “Rumble” from the Art Museum cocktail menu. I actually ended up ordering a second one right before we closed our tap so I could have it to eat with our food haha (pro tip).
Snacks:

House Cut Fries: Served with Sriracha ketchup & horseradish mustard-aioli
The fries were really good and I absolutely loved the horseradish aioli.

Burrata & Prosciutto Pizza: San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, burrata, prosciutto, heirloom grape tomatoes, arugula, garlic, EVOO & balsamic reduction
All of the pizzas looked really good, but this one covered both mine (burrata) and husband’s (prosciutto) favorites, so it was meant for us 😂. I’d gladly eat this pizza every week. So good.
Atmosphere/Service:

As I mentioned the venus is stunning. They have many different seating vignettes throughout and they have circling servers so you can sit anywhere and they’ll find you!
All in all, the experience was really fun. Due to the price, I’ll be honest that it’s not something we’d do all the time, but we were already talking about trying to go back for a double date night with some friends soon!
Last tip – definitely go on their website and reserve a tee time vs. just showing up. Even with reserved times you may not start exactly on time due to the 2 course package. With that package you only have a tee time on the first course and you can go whenever you want to the next course so it’s not exact.
