Forge and Foundry Distillery | Stillwater, Minnesota

Standard

Forge & Foundry Distillery is a must stop for us when we go to downtown Stillwater.

I am going to be completely honest: I have only ever had one cocktail from there, but luckily I’ve been with enough people who have tried other ones to showcase them haha. Continue reading

W.A. Frost and Co. | St. Paul, MN

I’ve tried and failed in past summers to get onto W.A. Frost and Company‘s patio and I was not going to make that same mistake this year. Their patio is continuously listed on the top patios of the Twin Cities and it is clear why!

Handsome Hog | St. Paul, MN

Standard

We are having the best summer finally experiencing restaurants we’ve been talking about going to for what feels like ever. After two years of pandemic takeout and sticking to the same places (some would say sticking to the rivers and the lakes that we’re used to #IYKYK) it just feels like we’re finally getting back to experiencing life.

I’m embarrassed to say that Handsome Hog has been on my list since it was in its first location so it’s taken me damn near a decade to get there πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. I’m happy to report, that brunch was everything I’ve been dreaming it would be, but jokes on me, because now Handsome Hog is back on the list for dinner.

The Velveteen Speakeasy | Stillwater, MN

Standard

I love a good prohibition era bar and it wasn’t hard to convince fiance that The Velveteen Speakeasy in Stillwater, Minnesota was the best spot for our next date night when I assured him it crossed off all his criteria:

  • Dim βœ…
  • Strong Cocktails βœ…
  • Pork Belly βœ…

Plus who doesn’t love playing dress up to go to dinner?

Saint Paul Brewing | St. Paul, Minnesota

Saint Paul Brewing Patio Ski Lift Swing

Saint Paul Brewing is my absolute favorite patio. I know it sounds made up or ridiculous, but the first time we went there last year, I felt a rush of pure joy that has only happened to me a handful of other times like when I heard my favorite song performed by my favorite band live, when I was about to jump out of a plane with a human strapped onto my back, and when we secured our wedding venue and it hit me that we were actually getting married.

Don’t get me wrong, the beer is really good, too haha, but without a doubt, my obsession with this brewery revolves around the joy and wonder their patio gives me.

Tongue in Cheek | St. Paul, MN

Standard

Hello friends! It’s been a really long time and to catch you up to speed, I haven’t been writing full on blogs about my food adventures, but I have been featuring them on my Instagram and my Facebook page, so if you’re wondering where I’ve been or looking for more recent restaurants, you can still find great new locations! I’ve recently changed jobs and have had a few life changes, so the itch to get back to posting on my blog has been growing and after we went to brunch at Tongue in Cheek, it didn’t feel right not to sit down and give it the true homage that it deserved; 250 words πŸ˜‚

A friend of mine, who is even more obsessed with good food than I am, has been raving about Tongue in Cheek for years, specifically their brunch. So when my fiance and I (that’s one of those life changes I referred to πŸ˜‚) decided to pre-celebrate our birthdays with brunch it was a no brainer for me to scoop up a reservation. It beyond lived up to the hype and I can’t wait to go back for dinner!

Brick & Bourbon | Stillwater, MN

Brick and Bourbon Stillwater Minnesota

I’m embarrassed to admit that the writing funk of 2020 consumed me again. We were lucky enough to visit Brick & Bourbon last month when eating outside at restaurants was still a thing and I was so excited to be able to experience the Brick & Bourbon rooftop patio in downtown Stillwater, Minnesota.

Brick & Bourbon has been a place that has been recommended to me by multiple family and friends when they found out I moved back to the East suburbs and was craving something new. It definitely lived up to the hype!

5-8 Tavern and Grill | Maplewood, MN

Last week it was national cheese curd day, which is not a day I was prepared to miss.

You can see proof of my cheese curd obsession here.

I was super confused when I asked boyfriend where there were good cheese curds to try close to us in the East Metro and he suggested we go to 5-8 Tavern and Grill…Yes, it’s official, I was [last Thursday] years old when I discovered that 5-8 had more than just the Minneapolis location… (they actually have FOUR locations 🀦  ).

**Spoiler Alert: the cheese curds were amazing and I will definitely be visiting the 5-8 Maplewood location again!

The Wilder Scratch Kitchen | Bayport, MN

Trying new places hasn’t really been at the top of my list this summer due to the pandemic, but since moving back to the East suburbs (I miss Minneapolis so much) I’ve been wanting to get out and get reacquainted with the area…Fall is also perfect patio season which is the ideal dining scenario right now, so when my (sort of) brother and sister in-law (they’re actually my sister’s in-laws, but I’ll claim them all day everyday) invited me to grab cocktails and a snacks at The Wilder Scratch Kitchen in Bayport I was so excited, mostly because I didn’t even know it existed!

Being honest, their website is a hot mess, but they appear to be more active on their social media so I would recommend going to their Facebook for any information and the website actually directs you there for the current menu. (*job plug: if anyone who works there reads this and wants some website help, let me know! I work at a marketing agency and we do great workπŸ˜‚ )

Nicollet Island Inn | Northeast Minneapolis

Nicollet Island Inn NE Minneapolis
Standard

I’ve been lucky to be able to get out of town pretty much all summer by visiting my parent’s lake home, but much like everyone else, I’ve been missing my friends a lot during social distancing. So when the stars aligned and Mikayla and I were both in town on Friday night I was beyond thrilled to have plans with someone else besides my boyfriend’s demon cat haha.

It was a beautiful day so I was excited when Mikayla suggested we go to Nicollet Island Inn, especially since I had never been!
