Feast Buffet & Banquet | Woodbury, MN

Feast Buffet Woodbury Minnesota Hipster Hack Food Review
Standard

Husband has been wanting to try out Feast Buffet & Banquet in Woodbury ever since we saw signage that it was coming almost a year ago. While we moved to South St. Paul last fall before Feast officially opened, we used to live down the street and were excited to see something different coming to that space, a space that has seen quite a bit of restaurant turnover through the years.

Full disclosure, it took some convincing for me to go.

  1. I don’t particularly like buffets, because my eating style just isn’t exactly conducive. I get full pretty quick, but then can have a snack a few hours later, whereas at a buffet the goal is to eat as much as you can immediately.
  2. As a marketer who used to be a marketing manager for a restaurant group, I find it sketch that I have yet to find their official website and/or social media accounts. There are quite a few sites saying they carry their menu and many influencers/websites who have covered their opening on Google, but I want my information to be official.
  3. Last fall, some of the local foodies I followed posted some concerns and not the best experiences, so I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it.

With all that on the table (#dadjoke), we decided to go for dinner on a Tuesday night. Overall, while I did enjoy some aspects, it is probably not somewhere we’ll go back to. My full review is below.

BLVD Tavern | West St. Paul, MN

I don’t know that I’ve shared it here yet, but husband and I bought our first home this past October in South St. Paul, which is not only exciting, because we’ll never have elephants for upstairs neighbors again, but we’ve got a whole new culinary neighborhood to explore!

This is actually our second time dining at BLVD Tavern. Our first time was a dinner pitstop on our way back from Home Depot in the middle of painting pre-move, but by the time life calmed down enough for me to sit down and write out a review, I didn’t feel like it was fresh enough in my mind to give it justice so I’m excited to right that wrong!

Where we live we’re pretty much a stone’s throw from West St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights so expect to see a lot of reviews for places in these cities!

Brick & Bourbon | Stillwater, MN

Brick and Bourbon Stillwater Minnesota

I’m embarrassed to admit that the writing funk of 2020 consumed me again. We were lucky enough to visit Brick & Bourbon last month when eating outside at restaurants was still a thing and I was so excited to be able to experience the Brick & Bourbon rooftop patio in downtown Stillwater, Minnesota.

Brick & Bourbon has been a place that has been recommended to me by multiple family and friends when they found out I moved back to the East suburbs and was craving something new. It definitely lived up to the hype!

Last week it was national cheese curd day, which is not a day I was prepared to miss.

You can see proof of my cheese curd obsession here.

I was super confused when I asked boyfriend where there were good cheese curds to try close to us in the East Metro and he suggested we go to 5-8 Tavern and Grill…Yes, it’s official, I was [last Thursday] years old when I discovered that 5-8 had more than just the Minneapolis location… (they actually have FOUR locations 🀦  ).

**Spoiler Alert: the cheese curds were amazing and I will definitely be visiting the 5-8 Maplewood location again!

Trying new places hasn’t really been at the top of my list this summer due to the pandemic, but since moving back to the East suburbs (I miss Minneapolis so much) I’ve been wanting to get out and get reacquainted with the area…Fall is also perfect patio season which is the ideal dining scenario right now, so when my (sort of) brother and sister in-law (they’re actually my sister’s in-laws, but I’ll claim them all day everyday) invited me to grab cocktails and a snacks at The Wilder Scratch Kitchen in Bayport I was so excited, mostly because I didn’t even know it existed!

Being honest, their website is a hot mess, but they appear to be more active on their social media so I would recommend going to their Facebook for any information and the website actually directs you there for the current menu. (*job plug: if anyone who works there reads this and wants some website help, let me know! I work at a marketing agency and we do great workπŸ˜‚ )

Wild Boar Bar and Grill | Oakdale, Minnesota

Wild Boar Bar and Grill Oakdale Food Menu

I’ve been trying (and failing quite a bit) this summer to eat low carb so when I determine it’s a cheat meal there is really only one thing I crave: a sandwich.

While trying to find a new place to go near Woodbury that had a club sandwich on the menu boyfriend found Wild Boar Bar & Grill.Β  Funnily enough, we didn’t realize until we were almost there that this happened to be the same place we had passed signs for multiple times already thanks to the current 494/94 ramp detours and had kept commenting that we needed to come back to try it haha.
