BLVD Tavern West St. Paul Minnesota Review Hipster Hack Blog
Standard

I don’t know that I’ve shared it here yet, but husband and I bought our first home this past October in South St. Paul, which is not only exciting, because we’ll never have elephants for upstairs neighbors again, but we’ve got a whole new culinary neighborhood to explore!

This is actually our second time dining at BLVD Tavern. Our first time was a dinner pitstop on our way back from Home Depot in the middle of painting pre-move, but by the time life calmed down enough for me to sit down and write out a review, I didn’t feel like it was fresh enough in my mind to give it justice so I’m excited to right that wrong!

Where we live we’re pretty much a stone’s throw from West St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights so expect to see a lot of reviews for places in these cities!

Food:

Wisconsin Cheese Curds: Ellsworth WI curds, golden fried exclusive 3 Taverns Pale Ale batter. Served with marinara.

Cheese curds hate to see me coming. There has never been one I don’t love and it’s always a win when you see they’re from Ellsworth. These were actually some of the better ones I’ve had. The batter is very good and they had the perfect amount of crispness with some extra parm on top.

Turkey Club: Sliced roasted turkey with peppered bacon, Cheddar, tomato, lettuce and mayo on wheat toast w/waffle fries and seasoned sour cream

I ordered this sandwich both times because a good club sandwich just hits the spot. My only critique is the seasoned sour cream. It is a little too salty and I wish it had a heavier seasoning to sour cream ratio.

Cuban: BLVD signature item. Slow-cooked marinated pulled pork with ham, Swiss cheese, chipotle mayo, yellow mustard, and sliced pickles on a ciabatta hoagie

Husband opted for the Cuban which he really enjoyed and it was enough food to be his lunch the next day, too.

Drinks:

We ordered beers, but they do have a full bar with some speciality cocktails, a pretty robust tap beer list, N/A

Atmosphere/Service:

Walking in you can tell this is an established local favorite. They have two different bar areas and a dining area so there is ample space. They also offer pull tabs, a weekend brunch, and have live music on occasion.

Service both times was quick and everyone was friendly. We definitely foresee this being one of our new neighborhood go-tos!
