If lobster mac was a personality trait, my enneagram would be “The Eater.” I’ve been a loyal customer of the North Loop Smack Shack for years so when I found out my friend was flying into town from Texas, Smack Shack Bloomington was the perfect way to remind him that he made the wrong choice by moving 🤪.

Snacks:

Cajun Fries & Lobster Poutine: Cajun Fries, Taleggio Gravy, Lobster Claw, Cheese Curds

Poutine + lobster = a very happy Tara. I get that it was a bit redundant to get the lobster poutine AND an order of cajun fries, but as I explained, I was putting our Minnesota best foot forward, so it was a must 😂.

Lobster Mac & Cheese: Taleggio, Sweet Corn, Breadcrumbs

I love lobster mac, but it would be a lie to say that all lobster macs are created equal. Smack Shack has, by far, the BEST lobster mac in Minnesota. My husband was in shock when I ordered the large order instead of the small like him, but he sure felt like an idiot for questioning me the next day when he was begging me to share my leftovers! Even reheated it’s still amazing.

Peel & Eat Shrimp: 1LB Boiled Cajun Shrimp, Cocktail Sauce, Ginger Mustard Aioli

My friend ordered the peel & eat shrimp. He offered to share, but unfortunately shrimp grosses me out so I’ll have to take his word for it that it was delicious haha.

Drinks:

Midnight Martini: Cafe Du Monde Espresso Coffee, Borhetti Espresso Liqueur, Tito’s Vodka, Coffee Beans

Unlike many restaurants that advertise an “espresso martini” that is really just Kahlua and vodka, This martini had an espresso overload. Literal perfection.

Husband imbibed in the Lucky 7 Old Fashioneds (per usual) and my friend tested out some of the tap beers. There really is something for everyone, including a “buzz free” n/a selection!

Atmosphere/Service:

The big difference between the Bloomington location and the North Loop location is that there is a parking lot – definite upgrade! Otherwise, the interior is very similar and the service was great, per usual.
