I have a Hipster Hack for Revival in Minneapolis already, but we recently checked out the Saint Paul location so it felt like it deserved a second, because 1. the original review was from 2019 and 2. we tried out the brunch menu this time and it was very good!
Snacks:

Fried Green Tomatoes: Remoulade, Buttermilk, Cress
I recently discovered a love for fried green tomatoes at the Minnesota State Fair so I was very excited to see these on the menu. Paired with the sauce they were absolutely delicious.

Breakfast Poutine: Fries, Cheese Curds, Sunnyside Eggs, Sausage Gravy, Chicken Crispies
I don’t particularily love breakfast food so I love nontraditional breakfast items like pizza and burgers where it’s more than just eggs is my jam. I’ve never seen breakfast poutine before so I was very excited to try it. I really liked it and it was a lot of food so husband was glad when I couldn’t finish it and he got to try some haha.

Biscuits & Gravy: 2 Eggs, Sausage Gravy, Buttermilk Biscuits
Husband got the biscuit and gravy, and as I assumed, it was a homerun. The sausage gravy on both dishes was perfection and I already knew I loved the Revival biscuits so honestly, if this would have been only average I would have been concerned.
Drinks:

Espresso Martini & Mimosa
Husband looked at the drink menu first and within seconds was excitedly informing me that my cocktail of choice (espresso martini) was on the menu. I also appreciated that they served it without the espresso beans (and the mimosa without an orange wedge), not because I’m anti-garnish, but because it felt very on brand for Revival to continue their no frills attitude towards Southern cooking into their cocktails.
It could have changed since 2019, but I believe that the big difference between the Minneapolis and Saint Paul location is that the Saint Paul location has a full bar while the Minneapolis location is only able to serve beer and wine.
Atmosphere/Service:

They do not take reservations so we got there close to when they open (10am on a Sunday), because we weren’t sure about the wait, and were able to get a table no problem. I obviously don’t know if it’s like this every weekend, but because they have a large sign out front advertising brunch I’d say that this is still a pretty well kept secret and I definitely recommend you get there before the secret gets out and it’s hard to get in.
Staff was light, again I’m assuming because they weren’t that busy, but our food and cocktails still came out relatively quickly. We also put in a to-go order of fried chicken, mac & cheese, and biscuits to eat while during Sunday night football and it arrived right as we were getting ready to leave and was delicious even reheated.
They do also advertise their hidden patio in the back, so we’ll definitely check that out next time!
