It’s been open for a few months so it was time to check out Southern Social in Woodbury.

I’m not normally someone who loves ribs and other barbecue sauce type items so I have been putting off the visit, but I’m glad I went!

Snacks:

Pork Belly Burnt Ends: burnt end sauce, Texas toast, fries, pickles

Husband loves pork belly and refers to it as “sexy bacon.” I don’t particularly love how fatty it feels in my mouth, but did enjoy them as burnt ends!

Nashville Chicken Sandwich: Nashville sauce, creamy broccoli slaw, pickles, remoulade.

Famous Chicken Tenders: Brine-soaked chicken breast, crispy coating, choice of Dipping Sauce, Ranch, Blue Cheese, or Honey Mustard

Husband got the Nashville hot sandwich and said it tasted good, but there wasn’t heat.

I felt super lame getting just the chicken tenders and was waffling over getting the chicken and waffles (see what I did there), but I just wasn’t feeling a waffle and syrup so I figured why not try the basic and get a feel for how the rest of the menu is cooked. I thought the chicken had a really good flavor and the fries are SO good.

Drinks:

Debutante: Southern vodka, lavender, elderflower, lemon

I’m going to be honest – I hated this drink. On paper it looked like something I would love, but in practice it tasted like soap. I ended up switching after to my tried and true Titos + Soda.

They have a robust whiskey and tequila list.

Atmosphere/Service:

We were seated without a reservation which was great. The space is big but they don’t have the tables all stacked on top of one another which means you have room away from your neighbor and makes it a very pleasant experience.

Our server was friendly and the food came out quick.
