I’ve reviewed Tamarack Tap Room before, but this Hipster Hack review is for some of the new Tamarack Tap Room Fall 2023 menu items!

Snacks:

Cayenne Truffle Chips: House-fried and tossed in truffle salt served with caramelized onion dip

This dip was really good and the best way I can describe the flavor is like an elevated french onion dip. Only critique is that it has onion strips in it which made it necessary to use another chip as a spoon to scoop the dip onto a chip. It also made it so that it looked like a lot more dip than it was. I would recommend that they dice up the onions or potentially food process the dip to make it easier to eat.

Mains:

Maillard Burger: 9oz smash burger with layers of aged cheddar, truffle mayo, lettuce, pickled onion, and pickle

“Maillard” is the reaction that causes non-enzymatic browning, which makes total sense since the process of creating a smash burger (smashing the meat with a burger press into a thin patty as soon as it hits the grill which creates extra browning.”

I though the flavor of this burger was fantastic and I love a smash burger so I’m excited to see a couple of them on the new menu.

Tator Tot Hot Dish: Tater tots, mushroom gravy, corn, peppers, wagyu beef, cheddar cheese, cilantro sour cream

Husband had the tator tot hot dish and it was delightful. The bowl looks huge, but it is shallow so it’s a normal portion haha. His feedback was that because of the extra liquid it was almost a stew consistency once it was mixed all up.

Drinks:

Tiramisu Martini: Vanilla vodka, coffee liquor, rum chata, ladyfingers, cocoa powder, light coffee grounds, and whipped cream.

I had to try the tiramisu martini (aka a dessert espresso martini). It was basically like drinking a boozy Starbucks Frappuccino and I’m here for it.

Atmosphere/Service:

We always love it at Tamarack Tap Room. This time we sat on their patio to soak in the weather before it gets too cold (which should explain the dimness of the photos).

Our server was also really friendly and although they were clearly trying to close out the section we didn’t feel extra rushed and got in and out in a normal amount of time.
