Every year my mom treats my sisters, grandma and myself to dinner and a play. This year we wanted to switch it up from our usual go-tos; the Orpheum and the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. I was excited to try out the Ordway for 2 reasons: 1. the seating actually allowed me to have leg room! This is a rare feat at 5’10. In fact last year two women behind me where talking rudely about me, because they couldn’t easily see around me…I’m sorry for existing? Pay for better seats next time? and 2. it meant we got to try a new restaurant!
I will readily admit that when my coworkers asked me what play we were going to I had absolutely no idea (still don’t exactly remember the name and while the singing was beautiful I hated the outdated message that a woman is going to fall in love with a man who doesn’t love her back and “sacrifice herself” for his happiness…), but by 11am that morning I already had two dishes picked out at Pazzaluna Urban Italian … priorities.
Lobster Ravioli: Lobster stuffed ravioli with sugo rosa & Parmigiano cheese
We have an ongoing joke in our family that when we do these dinners at pricier places Mom uses the joint card and we send dad a “thank you, dad” picture sooo before I settled on the Lobster Ravioli ($34) I asked her if she was paying or if Dad was…needless to say, instead of a “thank you, dad,” picture he gets a full “thank you, dad” blog! UPGRADE! hahaha what a lucky man to have us in his life.
The lobster ravioli was SO GOOD. I’m on a huge lobster mac kick lately so I loved being able to try another lobster pasta.
As for everyone else’s meals: (not pictured) Grandma had the salmon, Mom had the scallops, Ashley had a risotto dish I think and I can’t remember Andrea’s main, but she also got the zucchini fries, which she thankfully shared.
Titos Vodka + Soda
I’m a creature of alcohol habit lately so I was excited that they had Titos. I did try out Ashley’s old fashioned, which needed the ice to melt a bit to take some of the heat off.
Their bar area actually has different hours than their restaurant so if you’re looking for a place to grab cocktails, this is a good option.
I loved the wall art/murals and it was super convenient parking in a ramp and being able to take the skyway to dinner since it was freezing cold outside. Our server was knowledgeable and very efficient. She was great in that she let us know that we should get our order in quickly to ensure we got out on time since everyone else eating there was also headed to events.
Bonus: they offer valet as well so if you don’t want to figure out the skyway you have another option
Altogether it was a great meal with my favorite women. Pazzaluna is delicious, but because of the prices I would consider this to be a really fun spot to return to for special occasions or nicer date nights.
