As the winner of the 2015 City Pages Best Karaoke Bar, The 1029 Bar located in Northeast Minneapolis, is a no brainer. They host karaoke every Wednesday – Sunday from 9pm until close and their song selection is pretty eclectic…just like the clientele.

The stage area is pretty small and with the weekend crowd it can quickly become claustrophobic, but if you go during the week it’s more than likely you’ll be able to get a song in without too long of a wait.

Drinks:

As a proud Northeast Dive Bar, 1029 serves some pretty decently priced drinks.

Food:

The 1029 Bar was recently featured on the Food Network show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” hosted by Guy Fieri, because the food is that good. Local Food Truck turned North Loop Restaurant, Smack Shack (Read the Hipster Hack Smack Shack Review HERE), operates out of the kitchen at The 1029 Bar and their menu is the perfect combination of truck and restaurant.

*Tip: The Lobster Mac, Bacon Mac, and Lobster Grilled Cheese are always great choices and the 1029 kitchen is open until midnight on the weekends, 11pm during the week!

Atmosphere:

The 1029 Bar has been featured on Best Bars in America on Esquire Network for their Meat Raffle, voted a Best Bars for Singles in Minnesota by CBS Minnesota, and have been City Pages “Best of” List regulars. While they’ve definitely made a name for themselves, The 1029 Bar hasn’t taken themselves too seriously. They’re devotion to being a laid back dive bar is what makes it such a fun place to be.

Like all great dive bars, 1029 can also boast a variety of bar gambling; pull taps, the Tri-Wheel, Meat Raffles on Fridays, and Bingo on Tuesday and Saturdays.

The crowning jewel in their dive bar crown has to be the ceiling bras. Easily hundreds of dollars worth of Victoria’s Secret, donated by the visiting masses, decorate the bar. Why a woman would want to sacrifice a perfectly good bra is beyond me, but hey, they have successfully left their mark.

Service:

The bartenders are efficient, friendly, and clearly love what they do. All these things combine to make this the ultimate bar experience.
