The best nights are the ones where you go out with only one plan; adventure. On a recent DT wander with my friend Mikayla, we stumbled upon Ling & Louie’s and realized that a rooftop patio was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Drinks:
I’m a sucker for signature cocktails and I was very pleased with the diversity of their menu. In the end I decided on the Southern Dragon while Mikayla ordered the Ling and Bluey.
Both were very refreshing and were made with just the right amount of heat so you know your drink has alcohol in it, but can still drink it without grimacing.
Food:
Mikayla and I were venturing on a sort of “Thirsty Tuesday,” which means that by the time we got to Ling & Louie’s food was our #1 priority and an appetizer was a given.
Calamari:
The Ling & Louie’s Calamari had a surprising kick with their spicy aioli and sweet chili sauce. Super good, but I must admit it took me by surprise for a second which resulted in a near death coughing fit.
Sushi:
Rooftop sushi? Sold.I took a step out of my comfort zone and ordered the Las Vegas Roll (Smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, dynamite sauce, topped with tempura flakes and eel sauce). Absolutely delicious.
Fun story: Mikayla swears by orange slices on top of her sushi, so when she requested it, naturally, the bartender and the chef were a little baffled by the combination. After much insistence on her end and a couple sweet talk exchanges sent to the chef from us via the bartender, he agreed to find an orange and make it happen. Well, it seemed obvious that we must have made an impression, because we were also gifted a sushi panda!
French Fries:
I did mention we were hungry right? Cause we also ordered some french fries…shoestring, crispy, and salted to perfection…that also could have been the cocktails talking.
Atmosphere:
It doesn’t matter how many times you experience it, rooftops in the city never get old. The space was wide open with quite a bit of seating, the bar was a nice wrap around as well. The chairs also added a nice pop of color.
Service:
Our bartender, Austin, was great. He was efficient, knowledgeable, and super fun. We had so much fun we all ended up exchanging cards at the end of the meal. Never say no to friendships!
