This isn’t my first time at Graze in the North Loop, but this was the first time I went with a mission in mind. The mission – try Union Hmong Kitchen.
I really wanted to get to their stand during the Minnesota State Fair, but the line was WRAPPING around the corner so I made a promise to myself then that I’d get there this year – and I did!
Food:

I had the Zoo Siab Meal (pronounced zhong shia). First off, I was very thankful to the cashier for taking a minute to help me pronounce this meal correctly. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not that great at languages to the point where I took 3 years of American Sign Language in High School because I figured that at least the words were the same! Pathetic I know, but it actually makes me so happy when I’m able to communicate in other languages (sign language included!) so this moment was an unintentional bright spot in my day.
The Zoo Siab Meal allows you to pick your main and your side and you get sticky rice, pickled veggies, and lettuce wrappers.
Mains:
- Pork Belly
- Hmong Sausage
- Hilltribe Grilled Chicken Leg & Thigh
- Grilled Skirt Steak
- Grilled Tofu
Sides:
- Chilled Khao Sen Noodles
- Fried Brussel Sprouts
- Taro Chips
- Curried Potato Salad
- Amazing Salad
I had the Skirt Steak with the Chilled Khao Sen Noodles and it was SO good.
Atmosphere/Service:
As it’s located in Graze Provisions + Libations in the North Loop there are many little seating areas to choose from. It was surprisingly nice out so we ate on the rooftop.
