National Grilled Cheese Day | Twin Cities Top 5

National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day Hipster Hack Minnesota
Standard

Cheese and sandwiches are two of my favorite foods so of course I’m obsessed with National Grilled Cheese Day. I’ll admit that lately my favorite grilled cheese sandwiches are made by my husband (his are honestly ELITE), but for those of you without a live in home chef who understands that there is really never enough cheese 😂 I thought I’d share my top 5 🧀 over the years in the Twin Cities!

And as an added bonus, you can scroll to the bottom for the Distastefully Tommy recipe 🎉

1. Red Cow – Twin Cities, MN

Grilled Cheese: cheddar, gruyere, smoked gouda, BBQ chips, sourdough, tomato soup

Red Cow has multiple locations throughout the Twin Cities (St. Paul, Uptown, North Loop, 50th & France, plus locations in Wayzata and Rochester), but my go-to the last few years being in Woodbury is the Selby (St. Paul) location.

The thing that sets them above every single time is the added crunch of the chips INSIDE. An always winner.

2. Not Justa Cafe – Bayport, MN

Hot Ham & Cheese

Not Justa Cafe (or NJ’s if you’re a regular) has the BEST grilled cheese. I actually always add ham to mine because they have that thick cut deli type. I’m drooling thinking about it.

3. Bulldog Lowertown – Saint Paul, MN

Grilled Cheese: Aged Wisconsin cheddar and gouda + bacon

The Bulldog Lowertown location has a phenomenal grilled cheese. I highly suggest upgrading to the truffle tots 🤤.

4. The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar – Minneapolis, MN

Brisket Grilled Cheese: Slow roasted brisket, guava BBQ, sautéed onions, cheddar, and provolone on sourdough

I’m a big fan of all Craft & Crew Hospitality spots, but The Howe has a special place in my heart being the one I visited most back when I lived in uptown. In addition to their Grilled Cheese they have an amazing brunch and dog friendly PAW-tio.

Silly Dilly: Onion Chive Cheddar, pickles, tomato, and ranch dressing

Ok ok this isn’t technically the “Twin Cities,” but trust me when I say that this drive is worth it. They have four grilled cheeses on their menu – Silly Dilly, Plain Jane, Hot-N-Zesty, and BLCheese.
