My new downtown work life means that I’m surrounded by many bars I haven’t heard of and restaurants I haven’t had a chance to get to yet. My first time at Red Rabbit was a couple years ago for my birthday where I was a bougie bitch and ordered Oysters so I was excited to go for lunch, because I finally got to be one of those people who met up for a “quick lunch around the corner” with their friends who also work downtown, and also because I was excited to try something else at the Red Rabbit!
Food:
Burrata: Burrata cheese, heirloom tomato, broccoli pesto, lemon, evo
I have been seeing nonstop videos on Instagram featuring this cheese and when my friend suggested we meet at Red Rabbit her first words were “we can get burrata,” and I kid you not, it was like the stars aligned and it became very clear to me that the universe meant for me to experience this cheese bomb in my mouth.
For those of you thinking wtf am I talking about, I’ll let wikipedia explain: “the outer shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside contains stracciatella and cream, giving it an unusual, soft texture.”
I enjoyed the burrata and would definitely order it again. I didn’t get to experience it on the melbas, (which I was assured are delicious), because a month ago I went keto (yeah, I have no idea what I was thinking either), but it actually was really good just by itself…did I mention I’m obsessed with cheese?
Italian Chopped Salad: Mary’s chicken chickpea, artichoke, chicken, salami, ham, peppadew, kalamata, provolone, and olive vinaigrette
I liked the flavor of the dressing. It added something a little different. PLUS, this salad made it real easy to pick around the things I couldn’t eat, which is important… #ketolife haha.

Here is a picture of my birthday oysters…mine felt like it left a pearl in my mouth
Service/Atmosphere:
Besides the North Loop location there is also a St. Paul location on Grand Avenue (I haven’t been there, though)
In the North Loop location there is a bar area and a dining room area. The bar area is definitely more casual and perfect for a lunch date. Service (on both occasions) was attentive and knowledgeable. I would definitely get there again for lunch and maybe for dinner on a cheat day 🙂
