I’ve been wanting to go to Billy Sushi for a while so I was so excited when my friend suggested we head there for dinner and it felt meant to be when we lucked out with parking outside AND seats at the bar!

2024 Minnesota Renaissance Festival
StandardI love a theme party and the Minnesota Renaissance Festival is the biggest costume party of the year! The theme is “renaissance” but within 5 minutes of being inside the gates you’ll see that the dress code isn’t universal; medieval, vikings, cottage core, witches, Zelda, Lord of the Rings characters, Dr. Who, Mario Kart, you name it – the gangs all here!
Continue readingMinnesota State Fair Foods 2024 | Saint Paul, MN
StandardI am very excited that this year we had 4 other people with us which allowed me to try more of the new Minnesota State Fair foods! My 2024 Stats: 5 Hours. 10 Food. 4 Beers Tasted. 11,000 Steps.
Get the breakdown below and let me know what foods you tried and/or plan to try this year!
Continue reading2024 Food Truck Extravaganza | Stillwater, MN
StandardLast Saturday we attended the annual Food Truck Extravaganza held at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Stillwater, Minnesota – even the rain couldn’t keep us away! This was our 2nd time attending – our first time was 2 years ago – and I can definitely say the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce upped their game!
My only critique is that it costs $10 per adult to get in and there isn’t really much to do other than buy food at the trucks or buy beer and sit and listen to live music so it’s not exactly a cost effective day, but for someone like me who’s happiest grazing and trying as much as I can it’s definitely worth it!
Continue readingLake Elmo Inn Restaurant | Lake Elmo, MN
StandardThe Lake Elmo Inn restaurant is an East suburbs icon that until now I have never eaten at. For our wedding in late 2022 we received a gift card from my best friends parents with a note that they wanted to provide us an experience to one of their favorite places, which was beyond sweet and exactly the kind of thoughtful gift I love. So I was excited when husband reminded me that we had it and suggested it would be a great place to go for Valentine’s Day.
He was right…something I don’t usually admit haha.
Continue readingSaint Paul Brewing | St. Paul, Minnesota
StandardI’ve previously dedicated an entire Hipster Hack to my love of the Saint Paul Brewing patio and the eclectic seating vignettes, but now that it’s too cold to be outside (remind me why I live in Minnesota again?) we’ve been able to experience the back of the brewery, which also homes a bunch of eclectic seating areas and funky, recycled designs.
Cliff notes: this brewery is my absolute favorite. But keep reading if you require more evidence 😂
Continue readingMoscow On The Hill | Saint Paul, MN
StandardAs a vodka enthusiast, I’m embarrassed to say this is only my second time visiting Moscow on the Hill in Saint Paul 😬. Lately husband and I have been stuck in a bit of a rut so when he told me it was my turn to pick date night I put together a list of places I was long overdue for a visit and when he saw Moscow on the Hill and he realized he could get some quality “beef strogo” it was an immediate yes for him.
Continue readingFavorite Foods of 2023 | Twin Cities, MN
StandardI thought I’d try something a little different and do a recap of my 12 favorite foods for 12 months of 2023!
I go out pretty frequently, but sometimes it’s just drinks and an app or somewhere I’ve been before so it doesn’t always make sense to do a full on Hipster Hack review. In this format I’ll be able to highlight some of those other places that make foods I adore!
Sharing in no particular order…

StandardI hate when I’m trying to find a recipe in a blog and I have to scroll through page after page, but I do want to give a little backstory, so I’ll keep this brief:
Continue readingKincaid’s | St. Paul, MN
StandardWe’ve had two really great experiences at Kincaid’s so when we were picking somewhere that felt special to us to celebrate our 1st anniversary dinner it was a natural choice.
