For YEARS I have wanted to do a corn maze. It was a dream come true when boyfriend said he wanted to do a fall date day and that I could pick the activity! Knowing his love for puzzles, the Have Ya Herd Corn Maze was the perfect marriage of goats and an outdoor activity that I love AND the problem solving and puzzles that he loves…sometimes I know how to compromise 😉 .

White Pine Berry Farm | River Falls Wisconsin
StandardFall has so many activities; apple picking, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes! White Pine Berry Farms Fall Family Days are the perfect family fall activity. They have a bouncy house, animals to feed and pet, a free hay ride, pumpkins, raspberry picking AND a corn maze!
Unfortunately, when I went with my sister and her family it was opening weekend we weren’t able to check out the corn maze, because it was way too muddy, but we did get to check out all the other fun fall activities! Literally the best part about fall is that no one bats an eye when I ask to tag along to their family activities haha. Continue reading
Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar Dog Menu | Minneapolis
StandardMy sister texted me out of the blue to let me know that she saw that there are some places in Minneapolis with dog specific menus and that she was willing to let me rent my dog niece to take her for some bonding hahahaha. Fast forward a month later (because trying to find free time in summer is impossible) and we had the perfect girls day with my sister and both of my nieces haha.
I’ve already gushed about The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar previously so you can head over there if you’d rather read about the “people food.” Continue reading
Vali-Hi Drive-In | Lake Elmo, Minnesota
StandardI lucked out growing up near Vali-Hi Drive-In. It was literally only a 10 minute drive for me unlike many people who have to make the drive in a destination, it was pretty standard for my friends and I to go and watch a couple movies and then rush home before curfew.
Minnesota State Fair 2019 | Saint Paul, Minnesota
StandardI went into the Minnesota State Fair with an ambitious list of new foods and drafted my line-up of three other people willing to help; Noelle, Lisa & Tom…as you probably already guessed, we did not make it all the way through the list haha. The hard part about new fair foods is that it doesn’t take into account all of your Minnesota State Fair food staples OR the copious amount of beer you’re going to be drinking.
I think we made a valiant effort and secretly am thankful of the rain that swept in around 5pm so that we had a legitimate reason to leave with our mission incomplete.
6 hours. 11 foods. 6-ish beers. Minnesota State Fair ✓

Loppet Nordic Racing
StandardI’m going to start this entry with an apology, considering the Loppet Nordic Racing event was 3 months ago, BUT since it’s definitely an event I think you should get on your calendars for next year, I’m going to go ahead and sing it’s praises anyway!

Eaux Claires 2015 Music Festival Recap
StandardAfter a much needed day to recoup, it’s time to recap the Eaux Claires Music Festival.
The Eaux Claire Music Festival was the lovechild of Justin Vernon, an Eau Claire native, who goes by the moniker Bon Iver, and Aaron Dessner of The National.
“We at Eaux Claires have been driven by the idea that our festival would encourage music-genre-walls to melt away. That the barriers between the stage and the audience altered, and expression and experience put above all. We have put so much thought into who should collaborate at this festival, from musicians to actors, filmmakers to visual artists. We will all share and revel in this collision of artistic force while performing in the arms of our own Chippewa River Valley.” – Justin Vernon
Art-A-Whirl 2015
StandardOne of the reasons I decided Northeast was where I wanted to live was the vibrant art scene and for that reason, I am excited to share that Art-A-Whirl 2015 is almost here!
In case you missed it, Northeast Minneapolis was named the Best Art District by USA Today in their 10Best Reader’s Choice poll a couple months ago. It’s Organizations like NEMAA and events like their annual Art-A-Whirl that have helped to shed the light on this great art community.
Art-A-Whirl 2015 is the 20th year of Art-A-Whirl and it’s happening May 15 – 17 in NE Minneapolis (obviously).
There will be over 500 NEMAA Members displaying their artwork in over 50 locations throughout Northeast; studio buildings, art galleries, home studios, and local businesses who show their support by showcasing local artists. Continue reading
Open Streets MPLS
StandardOpen Streets MPLS announced their 2015 schedule and although I know it’s extremely early, especially since we just got dumped on with a random snow storm, I need reminders like this to realize that spring, is in fact, here.
Open Streets MPLS is the brainchild of the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition and was organized with the intent of allowing the people of Minneapolis to experience their city on non-motorized wheels.
If you don’t have a bike this would be a great time to check out the Nice Ride MN program, or participate the old fashioned way; on foot. Continue reading
514 Studios
Standard514 Studios is a gorgeous photography studio that doubles as an event site located in the Minneapolis Warehouse District.
514 hosted the Minneapolis Media Institute Art & Music Exhibit last month and I fell in love with the exposed brick walls, giant ceilings, and overall rustic vibe.
