Red Cow | Uptown Minneapolis

A couple weeks ago I was giddy when I realized it was #NationalGrilledCheeseDay. My giddiness amplified when I texted my friend to meet for lunch and she happened to be at Red Cow in Uptown Minneapolis…exactly the place that a couple coworkers told me that same morning had a phenomenal Grilled Cheese. Clearly I was meant to have this Grilled Cheese (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it).

Blue Door Pub | Uptown Minneapolis

Blue Door Pub Uptown Minneapolis

My life was changed on April 4th at 4:09 PM when a photo of Blue Door Pub‘s Lobster Mac Totchos appeared in my timeline. It took two weeks to get there (yes, those 2 weeks were pure agony and no, I do not think I am being overdramatic…ok maybe a little), but we finally made it and while it was worth the wait, I wouldn’t recommend waiting too much longer, since it’s a limited time special! 4 Bells | Minneapolis

4 Bells Minneapolis

Over the last couple years I’ve finally developed an appreciation for seafood (except shrimp… reason 1 is the texture and reason 2 is because I was told that shrimp are a chromosome away from a cockroach and therefore literally the cockroach of the sea. Vomit). Therefore, when my friend Mikayla invited me along to a group dinner at 4 Bells, I instantly agreed.

4 Bells is known for their extremely fresh seafood and while they utilize local fish when possible, the bulk of their seafood is overnighted directly from the coasts.

Their name, according to their website, comes from the tradition of ringing a bell 4 times to signal to sailors that it’s time for a break.

Apoy Filipino Cuisine | Minneapolis

Apoy Minneapolis

Stumbling upon Apoy was a happy accident while waiting for our table to be ready at Revival. I’ve been wanting to try Filipino food for a while and the hungrier we got while waiting, the harder it was to turn down the appetizers the bartender kept tempting us with. WIth Apoy firmly on the top of our list of new places to try, I was super excited when I learned about their Thursday night Kamayans and booked one immediately.

Revival Restaurant | Minneapolis

Revival Restaurant Minneapolis

Revival Restaurant in Minneapolis is 1.2 miles away from my apartment. It is literally only 6336 feet away and it has taken me a year and a half to finally eat there. I cannot even count how many times I’ve heard this restaurant referenced and I am baffled that I did not realize how close it really was!

Revival’s menu is southern cuisine to it’s core and it’s crowning jewel is fried chicken.

Sonora Grill Minneapolis - Hipster Hack

Tacos are the ultimate “safe place” when it comes to stepping out of your comfort zone. Hundreds of different ingredients and unique flavor profiles start with the simple magic of a hand held corn tortilla.

I first started this blog as a way to keep myself motivated to try new places, but I can honestly say I wasn’t very adventurous with my food choices until I became addicted to tacos. They are small enough that you feel completely comfortable trying out a new flavor, because it’s basically sacrilege to only have one anyway!

For Taco Tuesday I’m going to be gushing over Sonora Grill Minneapolis so I recommend not reading this on an empty stomach.

Sonora Grill first started in the Midtown Global Market and serve up a variety of “Scratch America and Spanish infusion cuisine.”

Pat’s Tap Gastropub | Minneapolis

Pat's Tap Minneapolis

I am a Pat’s Tap Gastropub regular and have been for years, but now, living a mere 4 blocks from there, it’s my go-to suggestion for anyone who wants to meet me out.

This Hipster Hack is not going to give it justice, because I have been there a LOT and it’s only reflecting one meal, but not having one up about this place just felt wrong!

The Howe Daily Kitchen and Bar | Minneapolis

The Howe Daily Kitchen and Bar

Sunday Brunch is a right of passage for every #BasicBitch. Full of libations, carb loading, and morning after stories, Sunday Brunch is a tradition that begins at 21 and (if you do it correctly) continues until the end of time.

For my first Sunday Brunch of 2019 I decided to revisit a place I had checked out for the first time this summer: The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar in South Minneapolis. Upon arrival my Brunch-mate took one look and proclaimed, “this is the type of place I’d expect you to choose.” If that’s not a high note of praise for The Howe then I don’t know what is haha.
