I have a previous Hipster Hack for D-Spot Wings from 2019, but it is still one of our go-to places so it felt long overdue to do an updated review even if everything I said before is still very valid!

The Volstead House Whiskey Bar + Speakeasy | Eagan, MN
StandardSooooooo there’s a speakeasy in Eagan. Yeah, seriously, in EAGAN. My mind was blown, too. When we saw it on google maps we didn’t believe it was true and originally thought we were mistaken or that it had gone out of business because when we pulled up the restaurant said Burgers & Bottles, but low and behold, when we walked in we were directed to the red door and Volstead House Whiskey Bar + Speakeasy beyond.
Full disclosure: we actually ended up going back a second time on the following Sunday, because the bartender let us know it was half off pours so this Hipster Hack actually covers two visits and we are not, in fact, giant lushes haha.
Continue readingSpitz Mediterranean Street Food | Woodbury, MN
StandardI was so excited to be invited to the Grand Opening weekend of Spitz Mediterranean Street Food in Woodbury! In this household we eat gyros pretty frequently so having a location less then 5 minutes from us is going to be dangerous.
Continue readingSaint Dinette | Saint Paul, MN
StandardI very much thought Saint Dinette would be a French restaurant so it’s safe to say I was confused when I looked at the menu online. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t turned off by it’s lack of French fair, but more intrigued about it’s eclectic menu that, to be honest, doesn’t seem super cohesive to me on paper, but the the flavors were fantastic.
Continue readingHope Breakfast Bar | Saint Paul, MN
StandardHope Breakfast Bar has been on my list for years so I was very excited when it was suggested as the location for our girls brunch.
Continue readingApostle Supper Club | Saint Paul, MN
StandardIt felt kismet that minutes after I had read an article about the opening of Apostle Supper Club in Saint Paul a friend suggested we meet there for dinner.
Continue readingMinnesota State Fair Foods 2022 | Saint Paul, MN
StandardThe Minnesota State Fair is my favorite food event of the year! Normally I go multiple times, but with my wedding in a couple months we were forced to try to jam pack everything into one power 4 hour visit this year, which meant that I had to forgo a few normal fair food staples to make room for more new foods.
Below are all the foods we had this year plus the new items from Nordic Waffles that we were able to try at a State Fair preview event the night before it opened.
W.A. Frost and Co. | St. Paul, MN
StandardI’ve tried and failed in past summers to get onto W.A. Frost and Company‘s patio and I was not going to make that same mistake this year. Their patio is continuously listed on the top patios of the Twin Cities and it is clear why!
Continue readingHandsome Hog | St. Paul, MN
StandardWe are having the best summer finally experiencing restaurants we’ve been talking about going to for what feels like ever. After two years of pandemic takeout and sticking to the same places (some would say sticking to the rivers and the lakes that we’re used to #IYKYK) it just feels like we’re finally getting back to experiencing life.
I’m embarrassed to say that Handsome Hog has been on my list since it was in its first location so it’s taken me damn near a decade to get there 🤦♀️. I’m happy to report, that brunch was everything I’ve been dreaming it would be, but jokes on me, because now Handsome Hog is back on the list for dinner.
Continue readingSaint Paul Brewing | St. Paul, Minnesota
StandardSaint Paul Brewing is my absolute favorite patio. I know it sounds made up or ridiculous, but the first time we went there last year, I felt a rush of pure joy that has only happened to me a handful of other times like when I heard my favorite song performed by my favorite band live, when I was about to jump out of a plane with a human strapped onto my back, and when we secured our wedding venue and it hit me that we were actually getting married.
Don’t get me wrong, the beer is really good, too haha, but without a doubt, my obsession with this brewery revolves around the joy and wonder their patio gives me.
