Donuts are bae. When I heard that Glam Doll Donuts was opening a second location in Northeast, I was excited to finally be able to try them out. I’ve always heard amazing things about their boutique donuts and knowing it is a female owned business touched me in all the feels.

PinKU Japanese Street Food | Northeast Minneapolis
Standard
Sandwiched between Keegan’s and JL Beers, PinKU Japanese Street Food is a must try.
Having recently moved back to Northeast Minneapolis after 6 months of pretending we could be happy in the suburbs, I was beyond excited to get back to trying new Minneapolis restaurants and the non-chain restaurant life. Being a novice sushi eater, and completely averse to shrimp, thanks to once being told that shrimp were 1 chromosome away from a cockroach (you’re welcome for that, too), I was minorly hesitant when my boyfriend suggested we try PinKU. It proved to be completely unwarranted. Continue reading
Taraccino Coffee | Northeast Minneapolis
StandardIt’s National Coffee Day, so I figured, what can be more fitting than sharing my Taraccino Coffee adventure, partly because their coffee was so good, partly because I’m a sucker for random national holidays, but mostly, because it had my name in the title 😉 Continue reading
Simply Steve’s Foodtruck
StandardI have really been slacking on my Food Truck game this summer, so I’m pleased to share my review of Simply Steve’s Foodtruck, which was enjoyed while I was belly’d up in the Indeed taproom. Continue reading
N E Yacht Club | Northeast Minneapolis
StandardThe Northeast Yacht Club is a great place to go for a more low-key patio experience.
Drinks:
The drinks are cheap and it’s a good place to anchor up at the bar (see what I did there). They do not offer specials and when asked insist “we offer the same great deals daily.” Continue reading
Tony Jaros Rivergarden | Northeast Minneapolis
StandardMuch like Dusty’s Bar, Tony Jaros Rivergarden is an unapologetic dive. Where these two are different, is that Tony Jaros is a favorite destination of the sports attending crowd, softball teams, and even some of the trendier downtown Minneapolis crowd. Continue reading
The 1029 Bar | Northeast Minneapolis
StandardAs the winner of the 2015 City Pages Best Karaoke Bar, The 1029 Bar located in Northeast Minneapolis, is a no brainer. They host karaoke every Wednesday – Sunday from 9pm until close and their song selection is pretty eclectic…just like the clientele. Continue reading
El Taco Riendo | Northeast Minneapolis
StandardThis hack for El Taco Riendo is extremely over due, considering I mentioned it months ago, for those of you who are loyal subscribers (Thanks, Mom) you may remember that El Taco Riendo was the place I ordered from using the delivery service, Bite Squad, but for those of you who don’t you can read it HERE. Uber Minneapolis vs. Cabs
StandardUber crashed (car pun #1) onto the Minneapolis scene, or at least on my radar, a couple years ago. For a few solid months my Facebook newsfeed was inundated with posts from people offering $20 off and “First Ride Free” coupons. I had friends that constantly raved about how great Uber was and I had friends who told me about some of their sketchy experiences, but the one universal seemed to be that everyone was talking about it.
It took me about a year and a handful of rides in ubers that other people ordered, to actually download the app myself. Why waste cell phone data when a perfectly good taxi was hailing distance away?
Presented as a classier cab alternative, Uber does, indeed, have a lot of positives, but is it really better than a cab? Continue reading
Diamonds Coffee Shoppe | Northeast Minneapolis
StandardFor the last two months I’ve been working from home. Anyone who has experienced the work-from-home lifestyle can probably confirm that coffee shops become your saving grace, because they give you a reason to put on pants and be among people….there’s also the free wifi.
At the suggestions of my friend and NE aficionado, Kelly, I decided that today was a good day to check out Diamonds Coffee Shoppe.
Atmosphere:
Diamonds Coffee Shoppe is located in an old warehouse and is full of nooks and crannies. It can be best described as a maze (or Narnia, depending what you’re into). It’s pretty eclectic with a wide range of personalities. In the last hour I’ve seen retirees enjoying a cup of coffee, a mom with her children desperately trying to keep them entertained, a group of college students working on a project, quite a few people reading books on the couches, and other people like myself, vigoriously typing away on their laptops.
